Quaker Prison Ministry with Yohannes “Knowledge” Johnson

Incarcerated but Never Alone: Yohannes “Knowledge” Johnson

Yohannes “Knowledge” Johnson’s story is one of deep transformation, guided by his connection to the Quaker faith. Incarcerated for over 40 years for a string of robberies culminating in the killing of Errol Blackwood in 1980, Knowledge was sentenced to 75 years to life. Though confined, he has not despaired. Instead, he has transformed his life through the teachings and principles of Quakerism. Knowledge has embraced the Light within, finding peace, wisdom, and a sense of community in a way that transcends his circumstances. He is a devout Quaker and has been formally accepted as a member of the Bulls Head-Oswego Monthly Meeting, an exceptional occurrence for an incarcerated individual.

Saturday, April 5th, 2025, Yohannes “Knowledge” Johnson, who recently was released from prison after 40+ years visits the New York Yearly Meeting Spring Sessions as a Plenary Speaker for “Ministry and Witness in a Time of Discord”.
